The Archangels arrived back at their fortified camp situated on Paradise Hills, successful in their mission in bringing down the watchtowers around Citadel Drezen. There is much rejoicing by the Knights of the Kenabres and the rescued mercenaries with the Aasimars’ deeds. Sosiel and Veri greet the heroes and inform them of the current situation. With both Southbank and Paradise Hills taken and the Citadel watchtowers destroyed, the Archangels consult with their war advisors and agree that the threat at the Drezen Cemetery needs to be dealt with before they secure Ahari Bridge and begin the final assault on the citadel. Before the heroes rest up, Fynna meets with the rescued mercenary survivors and moves their thoughts away from the constant torture and slavery they experienced to the coming triumph of good. Their morale elevates considerably as many of the men and women of the freed platoon looks to Fynna for guidance and assurance. Hakim gives a rousing speech (using Clarion Call to great effect) thanking the paladins for their good work and victories they achieved today, promising more to come in the coming days ahead. The Archangels rest for the evening while the inhabitants of Drezen cautiously watch the crusaders inch ever closer to the Sword of Valor.

The nightmares persist and get darker for the Archangels and the rest of the crusaders. Unlike their previous dreams though, this one is more personal as they all share the frightening and horrible experiences of one particular crusader’s journey of being captured, experimented, tortured, and manipulated by the cultists and demons of the Worldwound. Leon feels a strange but comforting sensation though at the end of his dark dream and sees that it is his brother Daigo being tortured by the demons. Near the end of the dream Daigo, who is suspended in midair, calls out to his brother Leon to save him before all is too late. Leon wakes up and after confirming that they all shared the same dream, informs the rest of the Archangels that the person within their subconscious is his older brother Daigo and he needs help. Surmising that his brother is still alive and is inside the tomb Adlo mentioned the day before, he urges the rest of the Archangels to help him save his brother. They agree for varying reasons: 1) to raise morale by saving the rescued crusader’s commander, and 2) to gain another powerful ally Aasimar into their forces.
Adlo and Veri scout ahead to Drezen Cemetery and the Haunted Vault and confirm to the rest of the group that the area is guarded by over 500 skeletons and zombies within the cemetery, and that all of the undead monsters are staying pretty far away from the tomb itself. After a long discussion, the heroes agree to bring their army along just in case as backup support as the Archangels themselves enter the Haunted Vault and investigate the source of the nightmarish corruption of their dreams. With everything settled, Praetoril gives a simple speech to the Knights of Kenabres about the seriousness of their task at hand. With everything settled, the heroes and their allies march to Drezen Cemetery.

The heroes arrive to Drezen Cemetery and attempt to stealthily approach the Haunted Vault in order to prevent any aggression from the undead. Unfortunately they are unsuccessful due to Adlo’s lucky bell and they are quickly chased down by the hundreds of undead forces. Seeing this unfold, Veri immediately takes controls and commands the Knights of Kenabres and the Rescued Crusader Army to defend the Archangels in order to buy them time inside. With time quickly running out, the Archangels push their way into the tomb.
The Archangels get inside and descend deep into the damp, frigid tomb and find themselves in a huge pyramid-like room. In the middle of the room is Leon’s brother Daigo suspended in mid-air, tethered to six huge glowing crystal elevated in the air by stone pillars. In the middle behind a wispy, gaseous purple haze gazing at Daigo is a fierce looking minotaur also tethered by the crystals. Leon rushes in to free his brother and is immediately attacked by the beast. Battle ensues and the heroes attempt to slay the beast but the arcane tethers that tie into the minotaur seem to be enhancing his battle prowess. After a few rounds the heroes realize that the crystals needs to be destroyed in order for them to bring the beast down and attempt to do so. Every blow to the crystal creates a huge explosion which mentally attacks the Archangels (each crystal seems to represent a terrible, nightmarish event that Daigo is experiencing in his mental torture). After enough crystals are destroyed, Daigo’s strong will is able to break free from the magical tethers. He assists the Archangels in dispatching both the minotaur and the shadow demon possessing it and there is great rejoicing after the battle ends. Leon and Daigo embrace as the two brothers are reunited again. After the battle, the Archangels quickly clean and consecrate the tomb of the evil inside and Adlo and Hakim move down even further into the tomb. After going almost half a mile down, the two encounter an unseemly sight. It’s a huge circular chamber with a singular path to a pedestal that holds a slowly circling, suspended metallic tome. The circular room itself is filled with terrible magic. Divided into two halves one half is filled with dark, burning flames that seem to radiate with the abyss itself; the other is a literal snow storm blowing sheets of hail and ice throughout its side. A quick detect evil from Hakim overpowers his senses as he falls to his knees in pain from the sheer evil of the tome. With such an evil artifact right in front of him, he and Radiance charge and attempt to attack the tome but are immediately repelled and pushed straight back into the entrance wall taking a huge amount of damage.
After the upper tomb is cleaned and consecrated, the other Archangels move down to meet with the rest of their companions. When they reach the bottom of the tomb and see the metallic tome, Daigo becomes more serious and remarks that this is the tome that the demons that captured him used to torture and turn him into a demonic beast itself. After much deliberation about what to do, Fynna has a moment of clarity and levitates the book with her Terendelev scale into Praetoril’s bag of holding and thus circumventing the need to actually touch the tome. The Archangels agree that it’s not safe to leave the book here, and they can find a way to destroy the book later once they are able to retake Drezen.
@ 11:00 AM
The Archangels head back up to the surface and exit the tomb to see their armies have valiantly defeated the hundreds of skeletons and zombies from the cemetery. Veri and Sosiel come to greet the Archangels to ask of their success and Daigo’s forces see their freed commander alive and rejoice in his safety. Daigo gives a rousing speech, announcing to all of the crusaders that the time has come with the Archangels by their side to retake Citadel Drezen for Mendev once and for all. They cheer and rally behind Daigo and Praetoril commands everyone to gather and get ready to move to the Ahari Bridge and proceed on their assault on Citadel Drezen.
@ 12:00 PM
The Knights of Kenabres and Mendevian Crusaders make their way to the Ahari Bridge with Adlo and Veri scouting ahead. They come back to the Archangels and inform them that the bridge is guarded by
feral-looking beasts chained to the bridge’s weakened supports and several tieflings on the watchtowers above and furthermore that each support has been significantly weakened by structural damage. It might take a minute or two, but the beasts chained to the pillars could be driven to tear the bridge down. Marching an army up to the bridges will certainly cause the cultists to destroy it, but a smaller group could sneak in and defeat them quickly without, hopefully, triggering the destruction of the bridge. With this information in hand, the Archangels decide to stealthily move to the bridge and defeat the tieflings head on.
The Archangels arrive and begin their assault on the Ahari Bridge. The fight is swift and brutal as key fireballs placed by Fynna destroy many of the tieflings and the recent addition of Daigo into the party fold amplifying the Archangel’s combat prowess with his tactical and inspiring mind. As they are about to finish off one of the tiefling sorcerers on the bridge, the Archangels hear a roar in the Ahari Gorge, 200 feet to the west of them. It is one of the beasts of Drezen, the chimera from before! More angered than ever before, the Archangels prepare themselves to fight the chimera. Better prepared now, the chimera lands on the top part of the bridge and breathes a terrible cold breath at the heroes damaging them significantly. His attacks are strong and fierce and he is about to bring down both Hakim and Leon who are brutally hurt until Adlo comes in to save the day. The shadow rogue teleports underneath the mythic beast and delivers a barrage of swipes with his kukri that rupture the stomach of the chimera, releasing its internal organs. In a fell swoop from Adlo, he is able to bring down one of the beasts of Drezen and secure another great victory for the crusade. There is much cheering heard from the back after the crusaders and knights witness Adlo’s epic deed.
As the Archangels rejoice, Daigo collapses on the the ground. After being freed from his torturous mental prison for months, Daigo has overexerted himself and continue moving onward. He tells Leon to take his friends and proceed inside the Citadel and retried the Sword of Valor before all is too late. He will help lead the troops outside as they make their push into the Citadel.
With the Ahari Bridge secured, Praetoril rallies the rest of the troops and proceeds with the rest of the Archangels to Citadel Drezen where the final battle in the courtyard awaits.
