The Archangels make their final push into Citadel Drezen where they encounter a sizeable force of cultists, dretches, and tieflings in their way. With Daigo now rescued, Praetoril and the eldest Ardoda lead their two armies into glorious battle. As the fighting intensifies, the heroes see from the south a contingent of at least a thousand ghouls, skeletons, and skeletons approaching led by flying demons, one in particular the flying incubus that Adlo and Leon encountered before. In order to buy the Archangels some time to obtain the Sword of Valor, Daigo urges them to infiltrate the citadel as he, Sosiel, and Veri command the forces to defend them from the undead and demonic horde. The heroes agree and make their push forward.

The aasimar heroes breach Citadel Drezen’s gatehouse and move up the entrance ramp as they fight cultists, tieflings, gargoyles, demons, and more. The commander of the undead forces, a vampiric incubus on top of a fast and fierce rift drake, meets the Archangels head on in an epic fight. Radiance speaks to Hakim and informs him that her twin brother Twilight is on him. The combined efforts of Fynna’s powerful confusion spell, Praetoril’s relentless swordplay, Leon’s enhancement and healing spells, Adlo’s sly shadow magic, and Hakim’s keen scimitar are able to bring down the vampiric incubus and his powerful rift dragon mount. After defeating most of Citadel Drezen’s outside defending forces (including the Nabasu demon they encountered before at the Chapel of Sarenrae), the Archangels follows the shadowy wisp of the vampiric incubus to its coffin just right below the top-most tower of Citadel Drezen where a non-functional magic circle lies. Here they find an open-air terrace with its interior shattered and broken. A pile of treasure lies gathered in here, while a narrow band of stairs is seen half just above leading downwards into the citadel.
Under the piles of the treasure is a well-crafted coffin of the vampiric incubus. The Archangels open the coffin to find a helpless, undead, and demon-tainted body of Exorius of Nerosyan, twin brother of Yaniel the Courageous who mysteriously disappeared when he went into the Worldwound to find his sister. Realizing the circumstances of Exorius’s defilement, the Archangels give a prayer to the good gods before severing the lost crusader’s head and anointing it with holy water to relieve his poor soul. The aasimars see the soul of Exorius passing on to the afterlife whispering a simple “thank you” to them. With the Sword of Valor close at hand, they take their time piling up the treasure before proceeding down further into Citadel Drezen.
